Today is Bloomsday, the day we Irish don a straw boater hat, pretend to have read Ulysses and raise a glass to James Joyce.

I tried, and failed, to read Joyce in my teens.

I must try again.

Not today.

Have some flowers instead.

Cheers, James!

  1. At uni, our tutor gave us the choice of Joyce or Woolf. I read all of Mrs Dalloway. Then I read the first page of Ulysses before closing the book and picking up To The Lighthouse. And I’ve never been back to James since!

    As you say, someday… 🙂
